New Delhi, May 7 () Base metal prices firmed up by upto Rs 5 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today on emergence of stockists' buying and an upbeat Asian market.

New Delhi, May 7 () Base metal prices firmed up by upto Rs 5 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today on emergence of stockists' buying and an upbeat Asian market.
Traders said pick up in buying by stockists along with higher advices from Asian markets where Shanghai Zinc climbed off nine month lows today as consumers bought into the metal that has been in a shortage for much of the past year, mainly buoyed sentiment.

Meanwhile, at the Shanghai futures exchange zinc rose 1 per cent, having hit its weakest since last August in the session before at 23,145 yuan (USD 3,639.78) a tonne amid concerns over steel demand in light of tariffs imposed by the US.
The London Metal Exchange was closed on Monday for a bank holiday weekend.
In the national capital, zinc ingot and copper mixed scrap rose by Rs 2 and Rs 3 to Rs 132-138 and Rs 435 per kg, respectively.
Nickel plate (4x4) also moved up by Rs 5 to Rs 849-854 per kg, respectively.
Lead ingot and lead imported enquired higher by Rs 2 each to Rs 133 and Rs 140 per kg respectively.
In line with overall trend, aluminium ingots,sheet cutting, wire scrap and utensils scrap were too edged up by Rs 2 each to Rs 162, Rs 158, Rs 158 and Rs 156 per kg respectively.

Zinc ingot Rs 132-138, nickel plate (4x4) Rs 849-854, gun metal scrap Rs 227, bell metal scrap Rs 229, copper mixed scrap Rs 435, chadri deshi Rs 295.
