Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald was sidelined Thursday night with an awful leg injury.

Fitzgerald’s right ankle got caught in the turf when he got tackled as he ran with the ball against Ole Miss. It was not pointing the right direction after the tackle. Do not watch this video if you don’t like nasty injuries.

We feel awful for the junior quarterback, who has become one of the best QBs in the SEC. It’s especially brutal that it happened on Thanksgiving night too.

Fitzgerald was taken off the field on a cart.

The QB entered the game 158-281 passing for 1,770 yards, 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also had 968 rushing yards before the game.

Fitzgerald was replaced by Keytaon Thompson at QB.
