Corporate Bits | MGM China recognized with anti-slavery award

MGM China was selected as a top-15 global finalist for the esteemed “Stop Slavery Award” presented by the Thomson Reuters Foundation on Wednesday, the company announced in a statement yesterday, saying that the recognition “identifies MGM for its best practices and continued leadership in combatting human trafficking across the globe.”

In addition to holding events to bring together local stakeholders in the government and NGO sector, the company has held a number of internal anti-human trafficking training sessions for its employers.

It has also established a Vendor Code of Conduct, with provisions related to supplier workplace standards in an effort to eliminate child labor, forced labor and other violations of human rights.

“To be a finalist for such an esteemed award alongside other global enterprises is truly motivating,” Mr. Grant Bowie, CEO and executive director of MGM China said. “Over the past years, we have worked vigorously to highlight this important issue […] to put an end to modern-day slavery worldwide.”
