•Robertson High School, in collaboration with the NMHU Choral Program, presents Broadway Lion King, Jr., at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. at Ilfeld Auditorium. Free admission. The auditorium will open 30 minutes before each show.

•Child Abuse Prevention Event from noon-3 p.m. at Melody Park in Las Vegas. Free lunch and snacks, fun and games for the whole family, information booths and music. Bring your own blanket.

•Join New Mexico Highlands University for the 27th Annual La Fiesta de la Hispanidad. Doors to Ilfeld Auditorium open at 1:30 p.m. and the festival begins at 2 p.m. Experience the beauty and vibrancy of Northern New Mexico culture. Advance tickets can be purchased for $5 at Douglas Hall rooms 234 and 237. NMHU faculty, staff and students can enter for free.

•Tierra y Montes Soil & Water Conservation District will hold its regular board meeting at 10 a.m. The meeting will be held in person at The Tierra y Montes Board Room at 1926 7th Street. Agendas and call-in information can be obtained by contacting the District Manager at 505-425-9088.

•City of Las Vegas will host a Bulk Trash Amnesty Day from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Las Vegas Transfer Station (35 Aragon Road).

•Luna Community College baseball will play Southeastern Nebraska at 12 and 2 p.m.

•WeBe Racing, a premier motorbike racing series in the southwest, will compete in Las Vegas. Races will be held throughout the day for people of all ages. Races will begin at Rodriguez Park.

Friday, April 25

•Luna Community College baseball will play Western Nebraska Community College at 12 and 2 p.m.

•Luna Community College softball will play Lamar Community College at 12 and 2 p.m. This will be Sophomore Day.

•Enjoy an Earth Day event titled “Seedling to Tree, Mountain to River” from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the NMHU Industrial Arts parking lot and building (inside and outside). Come enjoy a day of hands-on activities celebrating our forests, watersheds, and how they are connected. •Big Brothers Big Sisters Mountain Region will host “2025 Golf Fore Kids Sake” at Pendaries Village and Golf Resort (28 Golf Drive in Rociada). Shotgun start at 10 a.m. Individuals are $125 each or $500 for a foursome. Price includes breakfast and lunch, goody bags, greens fees, golf balls, golf cart and a driving range warm-up. Prizes will be awarded to the closest to the pin on hole 3 and longest drive. Mulligans, raffles, silent auction and 50/50 drawings will be available. •First Saturday Cleanup - Show your appreciation for our community’s hot springs by helping with the monthly cleaning starting at 9 a.m. We drain and clean the hot springs, pick up trash, and tidy up the bathing areas. Wear a bathing suit; everything else provided. Sponsored by the Friends of the Montezuma Hot Springs.

•Each Sunday from March 23 through May 4 (excluding Easter), New Mexico State University will host a six-part lecture series for beginning gardeners at the Sierra Vista Elementary greenhouse (475 Legion Dr.) You will learn everything you need to know about getting started with your own vegetable garden. Email Yvonne Tallent to register at ytallent@gmail.com. All classes are free. Participants who attend at least four sessions will receive free gardening supplies.

•The Abe Montoya Recreation Center is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. On Saturday, it is open from 7 a.m.-noon. Closed on Sunday. Basic membership includes 30 visits for the year ($32). Memberships for those 55 and up also include 30 visits ($15). Other membership options available. Day passes cost $3, or $1.50 for children and those over 55. •Peaks and Pines Kitchen at the Pendaries Golf Course will be open in the winter beginning at noon Tuesday-Sunday. It remains open until 8 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and closes at 6 p.m. on Sunday and Tuesday.

•Silver Needle Craft Club is meeting Thursdays from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at Smiling Faces Restaurant located at 331 S Grand Avenue in Las Vegas NM. Calling all stitchers… crochet, knitting, needlepoint, embroidery, latchet hook, crewel work, etc. All are welcome. Please come and join the fun.

•Visit the Peaks & Pines Kitchen and Bar in Pendaries for Trivia Night every Thursday at 5 p.m. It features plenty of friends, food, fun and prizes.

•Luna Community College hosts a Strengthening Class every Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Wellness Center. Pay by the Class $10 per session, This class is focused on building muscle, enhancing endurance, and boosting overall fitness through targeted exercises and dynamic workouts. •Bring the whole family to the Tri-County Farmers Market this Saturday for a great winter outing! Rain, shine or snow -- we're here for your weekly fresh food and artisan goods shopping needs!

•The Las Vegas City Schools Board of Education meets the third Wednesday of each month at 5:15 p.m. at 900 Douglas Avenue.

•The West Las Vegas Schools Board of Education meets the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. at 179 Bridge Street.

•The Memory Care Alliance is offering caregivers meetings on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays from 2-3 p.m. at the Highlands University Library, Room 135. The program is a support group offered to all who are caring for someone living with Alzheimer’s Disease or Dementia. •Sommertime Somersaults (607 Mills Avenue), hosts open gyms from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays. Cost is $5 per hour per child. Times will vary depending on attendance. Will possibly open more days in the future.
