MOSCOW, April 2. /TASS/. Moscow and Hanoi are considering the implementation of joint projects in the oil and gas sector, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference following talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Bui Thanh Son.
"We have agreed to promote new areas of cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, including the supply of oil and liquefied natural gas, the construction of LNG terminals in Vietnam, and the construction of wind power stations," the minister said.
"There are opportunities that we agreed to use more intensively today - to increase supplies of Russian products to the Vietnamese market. We have a mutual desire to create favorable conditions for the implementation of joint oil and gas projects in Russia, on the continental shelf of Vietnam with the participation of Zarubezhneft and the Petrovietnam corporation," he added.
Lavrov noted that during the talks, the parties analyzed the trade and economic ties between the two countries.
"The emphasis was placed on the importance of adapting them to modern realities. We noted that thanks to joint efforts, we managed to ensure a confident growth in trade turnover last year by more than 20% - it amounted to almost $6 billion. Of course, this is not the limit," the minister said.
