The Guam Nikkei Association invites the public to a special panel discussion on the recently published book “A Borrowed Land” by Peter R. Onedera, which documents the experiences of Japanese Issei and Nissei during World War II in Guam.
This event is held in partnership with NHK Japan Broadcasting Corporation, Japan’s internationally acclaimed broadcast network, as part of their coverage for the 80th Anniversary of the end of WWII.
NHK will be conducting interviews with Onedera and members of Guam’s Japanese/CHamoru community to capture their stories.
“A Borrowed Land” is the first book of its kind to chronicle the unique WWII experiences of the Japanese/CHamoru on Guam, compiled from years of interviews and research.
