SHELDON—The Sheldon Civic Music Association is bringing in a singer and songwriter with a few albums to his name for the organization’s upcoming show.

Chad Lee leads the Chad Lee Band, which will perform hit cover songs and original music written by Lee during the group’s performance at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 31, in the Sheldon High School auditorium.

Lee was born into a musical family in Sanford, MI, and at 8 years old, he dove into country music and recorded his first vinyl. By 12 years old, Lee already was singing and playing guitar at clubs, theatres and festivals.

Lee moved to Nashville in 1994 where he molded his craft and started touring. Lee moved to Omaha, NE, in 2000.

He signed a recording contract with 7 Times 7 Records in 2009, and he later produced, recorded and released his first album “Feel.” He then signed on with business partner Dess Fletcher, and they own and operate Track 9 Media.

Lee put out his first album under Track 9 Media “Sidewalks and Trains” in 2012. He released his third album in 2014, “Imagination,” in 2014.

His latest album “Freedom” was released in 2017 and consists of 13 songs written to honor veterans and the nation’s military service men and women.

Lee has had other artists record songs he has written, such as one by country act Montgomery Gentry. He recorded a song for Larry the Cable Guy’s movie “Health Inspector.”

He has been inducted into the Michigan Country Music Hall of Fame.

While Lee has put out country albums, his show consists of a wide variety of genres from the stone-cold country music of Merle Haggard, bluesy tunes by Ray Charles, big hair sounds of Journey and Bon Jovi, to the Eagles and Tom Petty then back with modern day country radio hits from artists like Dierks Bentley and Kenny Chesney.

Joining Lee on stage is Keith Wilson, Pat McCarthy and Bob Massara. Wilson has worked with Lee since 2002 and provides harmony while playing the guitar and banjo. McCarthy plays the drums and Massara plays the bass and a variety of instruments.

The Chad Lee Band is the third show of the Sheldon Civic Music Association season. Alliance Brass will wrap up the season with a performance on Thursday, April 24.
