A pair of local teams shared the baseball diamond for a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday as Grosse Ile made the short trip from the island to visit Gibraltar Carlson.

Grosse Ile came into play eyeing consecutive victories after defeating Huron League for Monroe St Mary Catholic Central by a final score of 10-9 earlier in the week. Carlson meanwhile was looking to get out of an early-season funk, having lost two straight and four of their first five games overall.

The two longtime regional rivals eventually played to a twin bill split on Saturday. Grosse Ile rolled to an 11-4 victory in game one before Carlson wrapped up the day with a 7-3 win in game two.
