GJEPC to open Jewellery Park in Karnataka in partnership with JAB

The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council has signed an agreement with the Jewellers Association of Bengaluru to create a Jewellery Park in Karnataka. The project is designed to increase trade from the state and boost the jewellery manufacturing industry.

“We are supporting the Jewellers Association Bengaluru in setting up a Jewellery Park in Karnataka,” said the GJEPC’s chairman Vipul Shah in a statement, the Press Trust of India reported. “Discussions are underway with the state government regarding the allocation and finalisation of land for the project. The project is expected to generate 1 lakh additional jobs in the sector for the people of Karnataka.” 
 
Gem and jewellery exports from Karnataka increased by 169% year-on-year to total $150.33 million in the April 2022 to February 2023 period, according to the GJEPC. India’s total gem and jewellery exports total around $40 billion and the GJEPC’s target is to reach an export total of $75 billion by the year 2030. 

In order to bring international attention to Karnataka and South India’s jewellery manufacturing industry, the GJEPC held trade show India International Jewellery Show Tritiya which concluded in Bengaluru on March 20. The event saw participation from over 800 jewellery exhibitors which showcased their wares across over 1,500 stalls.
