    Vedanta sets up a 100-bed medical facility in Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Haryana

    Anil Agarwal-led Vedanta Ltd has set up a 100-bed medical facility in Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Gurugram, Haryana as India fights the second wave of Covid-19 which has led to a shortage of ICU beds and oxygen in some parts of the country.
    “We are working closely with government bodies and local administration to provide medical facilities and hospital care to those in need,” said Anil Agarwal, Chairman, Vedanta.

    This 100-bed field hospital will provide the much-needed support to district hospitals and we will extend all possible support and stand firm in our mission with the nation in overcoming this challenge, Agarwal added.

    “While the government is doing everything possible to help the people, support from corporates such as Vedanta goes a long way to enhance our efforts to provide the best medical facilities for those affected by the pandemic,” said CM Khattar while inaugurating the facility.

    The Vedanta Cares Field Hospital project is an initiative of the Anil Agarwal Foundation.

    Apart from Delhi NCR, the Vedanta Cares Field Hospitals are being set up in Rajasthan, Karnataka, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Tamil Nadu.

    “Besides setting up the 10 field hospitals with 1,000 beds for COVID -19 patients across India, Vedanta is working on a war footing to help upgrade the medical infrastructure in the country to fight the second wave,” the company’s statement said.

    Vedanta Group companies such as Hindustan Zinc (HZL), ESL and Sesa Goa Iron Ore Business have stepped into augmenting oxygen supplies to COVID-19 patients as part of the Vedanta Cares initiative.

    HZL is currently supplying 5 tonnes (100 per cent of Liquid Oxygen capacity) of oxygen per day that can be used for medical treatment and is in the process of increasing it by another 2-3T. Sesa Goa Iron Ore Business is supplying 3 tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) daily to the Goa State Government and hospitals, while ESL, the Vedanta group’s steelmaker, has registered its plant near Bokaro for LMO and has committed to supply up to 10 tonnes of oxygen daily.
