Updated: Name of pedestrian killed in weekend crash won't be released, police say

Investigation into the cause of the incident continues

Updated Dec. 12 at 8:45 a.m.: Greater Sudbury Police have released more information about the pedestrian collision that occurred in Copper Cliff on Saturday. 

The crash occurred between Municipal Road 55 and Balsam Street. It involved a pedestrian and a tractor trailer.

A 38-year-old man lost his life in the collision.

Police say the man's name won't be released out of respect for his family.

"Our condolences go out to everyone affected," police said.

The investigation continues to investigate.

Municipal Road 55 between Balsam Street in Copper Cliff and Big Nickel Mine Road has been re-opened following a serious motor vehicle collision, earlier this morning. 

The police investigation continues into what is now a fatality involving a single motor vehicle and a pedestrian.

Staff Sgt., Daryl Adams said no charges are being pursued at this time. 

However, witnesses are urged to contact the Traffic Management Unit at 705-675-9171 ext 2411 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
