Queen Maxima stole the show at an orchestral concert in Luxembourg on Thursday.

The Queen of the Netherlands put on a glamorous display in a full length scarlet gown at the Philharmonie yesterday evening joined by husband King Willem-Alexander. 

With such a dramatic look Maxima, 47, stuck to simple accessories in the form of a small red box clutch and an aqua statement necklace.

Her famous blonde locks were coiffed to perfection and she added a slick of rouge lipstick to complete the look. 

King Willem, meanwhile, looked his dapper best in a full black tie, dressed in a tux and dickie bow as he accompanied his wife to the concert.

The couple joined the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg on Thursday who were the guests of honour at the concert.

Duchess Maria Teresa made a statement in a bold black and green printed dress accessorised with green jewellery and a clutch. 

Duke Henri rivalled the Dutch King in an equally dashing tux as the foursome posed for photos on the red carpet.

The royals attended the Contra Performance for Grand Duke and Duchess at the Philharmonie last night.

It marked the second day of Maxima and Willem's three day state visit to the country.

Earlier that day the royal couple joined the duke and duchess for a visit to an historic blast furnace in the city of Belval. 

Maxima and King Willem-Alexander were given a tour of the industrial city by their royal hosts, along with the Minister of Family and Integration, Corinne Cahen. 

On day one of their visit they attended a glittering banquet hosted by the country's royal family.

The couple were joined by Grand Duke Guillaume, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, King Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Stephanie of Luxembourg.
